Kiran Rao opens up about Aamir Khan’s disappointment over Laal Singh Chaddha’s failure.
Mumbai: Over a year after the disappointing box office performance of “Laal Singh Chaddha,” Aamir Khan’s ex-wife, Kiran Rao, has spoken out about the impact the film’s failure had on the actor.
In a recent interview, Kiran Rao stated, “It’s really disheartening when you put in all the effort and it doesn’t work, which happened with Laal Singh Chaddha. And it definitely affected Aamir quite deeply.” She further added that the film’s underperformance affected not just Khan, but the entire team involved.
Released in August 2022, “Laal Singh Chaddha” was an adaptation of the Hollywood classic “Forrest Gump,” starring Aamir Khan alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya. Despite high expectations, the film failed to resonate with audiences and only managed to garner a meagre Rs 60 crore at the Indian box office.
Previously, Kareena Kapoor Khan also hinted at the emotional toll the film’s failure took on Aamir Khan, describing him as “apologetic and sad” when they met after its release. She emphasized, however, that their professional relationship and admiration for each other’s talent transcend the outcome of any single film.
Despite the setback, Aamir Khan is not letting “Laal Singh Chaddha” define his career. He is gearing up for a diverse range of projects, including “Sitaare Zameen Par” alongside Genelia D’Souza and producing “Lahore: 1947” starring Sunny Deol.
Aamir Khan’s dedication and talent are undeniable, and while “Laal Singh Chaddha” may not have achieved the desired results, it’s clear that he will continue to push boundaries and explore new creative avenues in the future.
